ASSISTED SUICIDE

bilde.jpg

Assisted Suicide, medically know as Euthasia is a known problem in our society. Whether you are against it or in favor, it is morally wrong. Our societies have survived because we are based on a fundamental of agreed values. The right to life was drawn up by nations to secure the protection of all and to ensure that the holocaust would not be repeated. What would the outcome be if we were to shift foundation. If we agree that someone has the right to die, then, are we also inferring that someone has the duty to kill? This is a dangerous course to take, morally speaking, "to deprive oneself of one's right to life is to introduce an ethic that endangers the rights of others."

Argument against Euthanisia would not only be for the people who are "termminally ill", but also for people who are hopelessly ill, desperately ill, incurably ill and other terms. It would also become a means of health care cost containment, it would become non-voluntary and is a rejection of the importance and value of human life. Some other arguments against assisted suicide are that you don't solve problems by getting rid of the people whom the problems happen, some people also argue that pain is controllable with modern medicine.

Arguments that support assisted suicide are choice, people believe that it should be their right to choose to live or die and ultimately it is, it will just be a matter of how. Assisted suicide could save money for families in terms of a medical illnesses that would never go away or be cured but only get worse. It could also save the patient pain, agony and suffering from their illness. Some people just don't want to end life in a hospital for months on end and do not want to be remembered as "the ill family member."

There are many reasons that people agree or disagree with euthanasia and or assisted suicide. These are just a few examples of why.
